Disabled by Sin?

“And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.  2.) And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?  3.)  Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.  John 9: 1-3

Questions  invaded my mind with the onset of a neurological disabling disorder.  “Why me?”  “Is God punishing me?”  “Why doesn’t God heal me?”  “Does He even care?”  Darkness of doubt blinded my soul.

Like the blind man, my affliction was not a punishment for sin but that “the works of God be made manifest.”  God reveals Himself to me, teaching me how to fully trust Him, giving me comfort and strength in my lonely weakness.  He teaches me to rebuild from the wreckage of my life.   He manifests His works in me so I can share His love with others.

Was I disabled by sin?  Only by my sin of doubt.   Jesus healed the blind man, turning his dark world into light.  Jesus freed my soul, replacing doubt with a deeper trust in His promises.
